The Gaaton River crosses Highway 4 at the Nahariya intersection and then flows along Hagaaton Avenue.

The construction of the Arena Mall near the Nahariya intersection required regulation of the river for possible incidents.

The plan regulated the channel to direct the water flow in a concrete culvert and, alternatively, an open canal, which may also serve as an attraction inside the mall.
The work included the geometric design of a complex culvert, and obtaining professional approval from the Western Galilee Drainage Authority.
