A separation system was Constructed to separate brines from the main factory sewage, in addition to the treatment of the separated wastewater, and the integration of the system into the main wastewater treatment facility of the kibbutz.

Detailed process

  • Separation of all brine flows in the factory to evaporation ponds, and construction of a disposal system for residual salts.
  • Unification of pasteurization wastewater with sanitary effluents from the factory, to be transferred to an anaerobic basin of 5,600 m3.
  • Collection of sewage from the kibbutz and the cowshed together into two parallel anaerobic basins with a total volume of 2,700 cubic meters.
  • Transfer of wastewater from both sources (after the anaerobic treatment) to an aerobic basin of 25,000 m3 for 10-15 days.
  • At the end of the aerobic treatment, the effluents are moved to a 200,000 m3 wastewater reservoir for containment and additional processes.
  • The effluents meet the “20/30” regulatory requirements and are used to irrigate field crops such as cotton and corn for silage.
  • The M.A. Gilboa Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility, which is currently under construction, will eventually receive the wastewater, after pre-treatment, including the anaerobic and aerobic basins.
